The 1950s Dress for Big Boobs

The 1950s dress. Sometimes called a retro, a swing, a rockabilly or even Audrey Hepburn dress. These are fabulous for curvy, or big breasted women. The art of dressing well is not about fashion, or the latest fads. It is about wearing things that suit you and avoiding styles that do not.

Simply put, this style of dress suits big busted women with hourglass, pear, apple and straight figures. It is also very feminine so you should give it a serious look.

Retro or Swing Dresses for Big Boobs

Why is the 1950s dress so good for women with big breasts? The answer like all the best things is simple. The large bottom half balances out your large chest.

I am going to unashamedly post pictures of dresses from Amazon. Partly because they allow me to use their photos without screaming about copyright and partly because they are very affordable and deliver most places. I also like to study the previous customers' comments. You can learn if it has a low neckline, where the hemline sits, how roomy it is for boobs and whether it tends to be accurate for it's sizing.

These two swing dresses for big busts are effectively sleeveless. This is also a very useful feature for busty women as those two strips of flesh will draw the eye to the side and up and down. As opposed to across which is the normal default view of big boobed ladies.

Note the less common diamond necklines. I have always thought this was a much undervalued neckline for busty ladies. It combines the square and v neck to good effect.

Swing Dresses for Big Busts

An interesting variation is the 'cut out' dress. I would not ordinarily recommend a different colour on your chest as it might draw attention. However, importantly it is a dark colour and a V neck. Both very useful features.

Whilst the cut-out can be a different colour or maintain the same colour or pattern. The very fact that it is manufactured as separate panels mean it is a little roomier - where you need it. Either way, look at the general shape and you will see why swing dresses for big busts work so well.

The black Audrey Hepburn dress above has three quarter length sleeves. Again this is a very good style for many women. It draws the eye to a narrow part of your arm which gives the impression of a slimmer figure. There is also an integral pretty lace top.

The V neck 1950's dress on the right has a similar sleeve but it stops short above the elbow.

Personally I always associate polka dots with this sort of style. Perhaps that is because so many swing, jive or rockabilly dresses for big busts have polka dots. They really do work well for dances as the full skirts swirl as you spin in a very eye catching manner.

If you are actually considering buying one for dancing, have a look at the tutu / underskirt in the right hand column.

A sleeveless tea dress or 1950s dress for big boobs. This comes with a belt and a variety of colours and floral designs. On the right is a floral dress. A lovely option for Spring or Summer. I particularly like the fact that this company provides you a whole range of bust sizes. That is such a refreshing change.

Note the boatneck or Sabrina neckline which I normally would not recommend. However the big skirts and sleeveless look, draws the eye away from the chest so it does still work. It is something you should be wary of though.

As the majority of the 1950 style dresses above are monochrome I wanted to briefly look at floral dresses. As you can see these are perfect Summer garden party dresses. The patterns across the chest act like camouflage and distract the eye away from your boobs.

So, in the final analysis swing dresses for big busts are a very flattering choice curvy women.

Did you like this page, did you learn something, maybe it reinforced you own views? I want to give as much (hopefully helpful) advice to the busty sisterhood as I can.

Please remember, we are all different. You may like to wear certain clothes and styles which I am suggesting that you should not. That is your absolute right. Do what makes you feel good. This site undeniably goes for the more modest approach because I feel all busty ladies already know how to be more racy if they wish.

It would really help me improve the site profile if you would click the Facebook 'Like' button. Pretty please! Susan

There is a reason that the 1950s are considered an era of elegance.

Jive or Rockabilly Dresses

I always think the broad belts often worn with the rockabilly or jive dresses work really well for women with big breasts.

It is simply that it accentuates your waist and suggests, or highlights, those feminine curves. A narrow belt, as in the picture on the left works as well but I personally like the statement a wide belt makes.

Note also the halter neck style. This is something that is common on these 1950s dresses and gives it a cute, retro look.

Underskirts

Actually this could within the definition of a number of terms. Crinoline, tutu, underskirt, petticoat or half slip. Either way, it has a rigid structure that bolsters up the skirt to help it flare out.
