The V Neckline For Big Busts
A Clear Winner

Of all styles the most flattering and adaptable is the V neckline for big busts. They normally have a prominent place in almost every curvy clothing wardrobe but if you do not already, you will learn to love them. It may seem a contradiction that an open expanse of flesh and a flash of cleavage can make a hefty bust look smaller, but it does.

A V neck also has the advantage of being flexible. You can often open it up or close it, according to occasions or circumstances.

You can also adapt it by wearing other things with it. It can be refined or sexy. You are going to enjoy this!

For The Seriously Big Busted
Nothing Works So Well As A V Neck

Compare the above two pictures of the same model in a V neckline and a high neck sweater. The V style draws the eye down to the apex of the V and up and / or up away to the shoulders and neck.

By comparison, on the red sweater, there is no detail for the eye to focus upon so it just concentrates on that big block of chest. The essence of this whole section on curvy clothes is to showcase styles that reduce the impact of a big bust.

Why Does A V Neckline For Big Busts
Work So Well?

Why? Well it is a bit of an optical illusion on a number of levels. Like so many tricks of the fashion trade, it is about drawing the eye to the bits you want and away from the parts you wish to de-emphasize.

A V pattern draws the eye down

Firstly, the V itself. When the eye sees a V it is drawn almost magnetically down the V, as the avenue of poplars shows. It is an illusion used by garden designers the world over.

Because on clothes, the V is pointed downwards, the eye is drawn down too; down and away from that big chest. A simple and subtle trick of the eye but that in a nutshell is why a V neckline for big busts is so flattering.

The V also opens up your neck for view and subtly elongates it. The eye sees a long narrow expanse of vertical flesh which is opposite to the horizontal look an ample bust normally gives. We want to promote the idea of long and narrow, rather than wide.

The V broadens out at the top and the eye is drawn up to your face. Think about the shape of flower vases, you probably never thought about it but they are designed to take your eye upwards.

Plus that flash of flesh is probably a different colour and texture to the top you are wearing and that change of both colour and texture serves to further break up the chest. The trick to successful curvy clothing is that it is all about tricking the mind's eye.

The V neckline also divides and separates your boobs. Why should that make a difference? Because your bust maybe more than generous but in one fell swoop you have divided that great expanse in two, quite literally lessening the effect of the bulk by 50%.

The old phrase ‘divide and conquer’ will forever take on a different connotation in your mind.

Other Advantages Of A V Neck
For Big Busted Women

Sensual And Refined

Kim Kardashian in a V neck

This picture may shock some of you as Kim Kardashian is a large busted gal who normally brings a completely different element to curvy clothing; one that is often not associated with refinement. However, she may be fooling a lot of people because she clearly understands the concept of the V neck and dressing for the occasion. I think she absolutely smoulders with this sensual, modest and refined look.

The advantage of showing flesh in the area below the neck is because it is often smooth and those clavicles (horizontal bones at the base of the neck) can look surprisingly sensual. A nice neck can look extremely elegant and your overall look can subtly start to look more refined.

In fact the V neck opens up your neck for view and will make it look elongated. All that modest flesh and a hint of cleavage is also very feminine and combines being sexy in an elegant way without being tarty.

That itself sums up why a V neckline for big busts is a thing of beauty for ladies with a bountiful chest. But there is more....

It Can Be Modest

A wide V neck
A narrow V neck

Even the V neckline does cause dispute amongst the busty sisterhood with some feeling it draws too much attention.

As those two famous blonde bombshells Marilyn Monroe and Margaret Thatcher prove above, you of course can choose the amount of cleavage you are comfortable showing or perhaps as the occasion allows.

If you have been very modest until now and want to be a little more adventurous, this is the style to start to experiment with showing a little more cleavage. Nothing demonstrates the fact that you do not have to forever hide your breasts better than the V neckline.

A V Neckline Is Adaptable Too

However, if you prefer a modest approach, opt for a shallow V neckline or perhaps combine it with a layered approach, like a camisole beneath. I think this is shown to great effect by the German politician Sylvia Yvonne Kaufmann.

You can also often adapt the length of the V by undoing, or doing up, buttons if the outfit permits. Note how the lapels also emphasize the V.

A simple scarf can keep you modest

You can also add something under the V neck top for a little more modesty. A camisole works particularly well as above. Equally you can accessorize with a scarf.

To see an example of a camisole working it's magic on a seriously endowed woman, flick up to the top of the page.

A V Neck-line Can Balance Out Big Hips

A v neck-line can emphasise shoulders

Finally, V necks also help to broaden the shoulders as the eye follows the V out in two directions away from the centre to the shoulders.

Broader shoulders also help balance wide hips and emphasise a slim waist, a bonus for many of the busty brethren who have pear or hour glass shapes.

Surplice neckline

Ok I have to admit that I had not heard of this one myself previously. A surplice neckline is, I guess, named after the surplices worn by the clergy. That said, the neckline bears no resemblance to any surplice I have ever seen worn.

In simple terms it is the neckline you often get on a wrap or cross-over dress. One of the diagonals on the V is extended which helps to keep the eye being drawn down. A good look for a busty woman!

Dictum of fashion: One final thought. If you are going to display cleavage, opt for a lower hemline. It is generally considered best on, or below, the knee. This is one of those old fashioned rules of style which is very sensible.

Did you like this page, did you learn something, maybe it reinforced you own views? I want to give as much (hopefully helpful) advice to the busty sisterhood as I can.

Please remember, we are all different. You may like to wear certain clothes and styles which I am suggesting that you should not. That is your absolute right. Do what makes you feel good. This site undeniably goes for the more modest approach because I feel all busty ladies already know how to be more racy if they wish.

It would really help me improve the site profile if you would click the Facebook 'Like' button. Pretty please! Susan

A Very
Flattering Look

V necklines suit even the biggest bust

Even with the biggest bust a V neckline is a very flattering look. Obviously some of you will feel more comfortable with a camisole to reduce the impact of that cleavage but the essence of the look is still there.

V necklines flatter big breasts

Sometimes it will always be difficult to hide a large chest but this simple style tip will go a long way to reduce aid that process.

An interesting comparison

A perfect comparison of the use of a V neckline for big busts because both ladies are similar height, colour, bust size, hair shade and hair length. The dresses are both armless and the same colour.

We are all different but I think it shows how well the V neck style on the left works. She clearly has large breasts but looks more stylish than her pal.
