Bras For Big Breasts

The best bras for big breasts. I know I should be styling this page as brassieres for big breasts but I just simply cannot get on with the word brassiere. It is so old fashioned and reminds me of the cross-your-heart bras my mother used to wear.

Oops. If you are actually shopping for specific big bras, then I have provided a page which details the main specialist brands of large cup bras.

Bra-llelujah -
Let's Talk About the Best Bras For Big Breasts

Bras for big boobs: This is such a big area to cover (oops - awful pun!), but seriously, this is actually a very important subject and there is so much to discuss and so many points of interest (okay I promise that is enough dreadful puns - for now).

Thankfully the world has moved on and the manufacturers have finally realised that there are a lot of big busts out there. Suddenly we have a decent selection of bras for big breasts. Broader ranges, more colours, styles and types. Why did it take so long!

.......and no, I am not pushing any particular manufacturer or brand. I am independent, not tied to any firm or with any particular agenda.

Pet hate....oh and another point, I try to use photos of genuine big bust bras throughout this whole site because it drives me potty when I go on retailers sites who supposedly specialise in large bras and all the pictures are of women of more modest proportions. Don't they realise we want to see what we might look like?

Bra Cup Sizes, Bands Hooks and Straps

To be fair, bras for big breasts are not a lot different to brassieres for more modest boobage, generally there is just more material. However here are some minor differences:

Bands: Since the main load bearing work of any brassiere, of whatever size, is actually performed by the back band, it is perhaps unsurprising that back bands on bras for big boobs (how about that for alliteration!) are often a lot deeper than standard brassieres.

Hooks: I suppose we could mention that you are more likely to have two or three lines of hook and eye fasteners at the back because the band across the back is broader. This provides the opportunity to provide more hook and eyes so they can share the strain.

Straps: Another characteristic of large bras for bigger breasts is that the straps tend to be wide. This is to spread the load across your shoulders.

Unfortunately it is a simple fact that busty women will suffer, to a greater or lesser degree, with indentations where those big bras dig in.

That is with wide straps. Thinner straps would be like piano wires and would really hurt.

Types: The biggest differences are when it comes to more specialist lingerie such as big bust bras for sleep, sports and most particularly strapless.

Bra Cup Sizes: This is where there is the main difference. Hence it gets it's own section see below.

Large Cup Bras For Big Breasts

This whole site is really for ladies who think a DD cup is fairly normal. In fact for many ladies, that is just a starting off point. The letters G, H and J are actually pretty much normal currency for many of the ladies who read this site.

Hallelujah! You are not alone. You may have gone through life thinking you are suffering pretty much alone but in fact the wonderful thing is, there are actually thousands and thousands of women like you.

It sometimes take a while to adjust to the fact that your cup size is not 'normal', especially when you first discover that your 'real' cup size is 3-4 sizes larger than cups sizes on the bras you had previously been struggling with. But once you accept the fact you need large cup bras, it takes a large pressure off - so to speak.

I was pondering why that even now most big busted women are uncomfortable in telling people their bra cup sizes. I reckon it is for one of two reasons (and very possibly both):

  1. People may think we are showing off. Daft I know but there you have it.
  2. The other is the more uncomfortable thought that we are not 'normal' and we know from experience what sort of reaction we get when people find out.

That is why sites such as this which discuss the best bras for big breasts are so important. You realise that you are not alone. That your thoughts, experiences, annoyances, embarrassing situations, frustrations etc are actually very normal.

Happier Retail Experiences

However many problems we find with our brassieres, whatever indentations on the shoulders, back pain and hassles finding the right size; we are still far, far better off the our mothers generation.

Twenty years ago all these problems meant that bras for bigger breasts were seriously matronly. Large cumbersome devices which looked positively hideous, nowadays as you can see in these examples big bust bras are not just attractive they are supportive and comfortable.

Thankfully nowadays there is a lycra (spandex) which provides the manufacturers a lot more leeway. There is now great selection of bras available which have combined all the 'engineering' needs within a more fashionable look.

Of course we must all thank our lucky stars for the emergence of the internet too. There are now a whole host of specialist e-tailors providing large ranges of lingerie in all the 'large' sizes. You can almost certainly find a selection of bras for big breasts in your size.

  • No longer do you need to trawl in vain around lingerie shops hoping, just hoping even to find even one half decent item in your size
  • No more looks of incredulity, pity or sympathy from the shop assistants or other shoppers who have, oh so subtly, sneaked a look at the labels of the bra cup sizes you are poring over
  • No more getting lucky and finding them in the 'outsize' bin or at sale time when all the 'normal' sizes have already gone
  • For some, no more trips with exasperated mothers who cannot believe you have the temerity to be 'really hard to shop for'

Because you can now shop online and try them pesky critters on in the privacy of your own home. You can take your time. Try those big bras on underneath favourite tops or dresses. You can send them back with little or no hassle if you decide they are not for you.

Be under no illusion. Compared to our mothers' generation, We have never had it so good. Bra-vellous!

Did you like this page, did you learn something, maybe it reinforced you own views? I want to give as much (hopefully helpful) advice to the busty sisterhood as I can.

Please remember, we are all different. You may like to wear certain clothes and styles which I am suggesting that you should not. That is your absolute right. Do what makes you feel good. This site undeniably goes for the more modest approach because I feel all busty ladies already know how to be more racy if they wish.

It would really help me improve the site profile if you would click the Facebook 'Like' button. Pretty please! Susan
