Scoop Neck Dress For Big Busts

Scoop neck dress for big boobs

The Scoop Neck dress is a flattering choice for big breasted women. It is without doubt one of the top two styles for ladies with ample busts (along with the V neck) and understandably a very popular choice.

As you will see it is a classic style that has been around a long time. One of the principle reasons it is so well received is that is very versatile.

Yes this style can be very revealing or cheeky as will be demonstrated below but I am going to concentrate on the more modest option, of which there is lots of variety.

What is a Scoop Neck Dress?

The scoop neck top is defined as a rounded, low cut neckline. The key issue is, you can decide where that hem line goes. It can either display a lot of cleavage, some cleavage or none at all; the choice is yours.

Why Does a Scoop Neck Top
Work So Well?

Again, this is a style that seems to contravene logic by showing a lot of your chest and yet it is still a good choice. So why?

Well the flesh on show breaks up the lines. The flesh is a different texture and normally a different colour than the top so it automatically creates differences.

You can see from this site's section of 'what not to wear' for large breasts, that one big block of colour is rarely good. Hence breaks in the chest area are, by contrast, good and that is why the scoopneck works so well.

The Scoop Neck Dress can be....

Revealing

Revealing scoopneck top

Clearly this is a little over the top, quite literally and yes, of course I chose this picture to exaggerate my point that a scoop neck top can be revealing. Very revealing.

Please do not splutter into your cereal or throw up your hands in outrage, it demonstrates a very valid issue. Like a hem line, you can decide where to draw the line, so to speak.

I have said throughout this site that all women with large boobs know how to gain attention if they want it; but equally that is the polar opposite of what this site is about.

What I am trying to do is to discuss the most flattering dresses for big busts and sometimes that involves looking at the alternatives. At the end of the day it is all about what kind of look you want to project and your own ideas of taste and decorum.

Or Cheeky

Cheeky scoop neck tops

It is all a matter of where you locate the hem line. This of course depends on the occasion and you own sensibilities. Some of you will look at this pictures and think perfect, that will work for me. Others will think - way too risque, clearly scoop necks are not right for me. But hear me out and see the next section.

Scoop necklines are certainly a style popular with the big busted younger ladies, or those with confidence to show a little more cleavage. Scarlett Johansson opts for an eye catching red top.

Note that this top is tight, clingy and with relatively thin straps. Does this matter? You bet your sweet patootie it does! Read more about that in the section on 'style tips'. But read on, you will see that scoop neck dresses can work for you.

The Modest Scoop Neck Dress

This scoop neck dress beautifully demonstrates how this neckline can also be very modest too. There is no hint of cleavage and yet there is a lot of flesh on show.

I deliberately chose the black and ivory maxi on the left because the model is not your average waif and this retailer caters for bigger sizes, in fact sizes 12-30, which should cater for many women.

On the right, a rather fun animal print maxi. This actually starts at a UK size 10 so I suspect the dainty model in the photo has it tugged together at the back with pegs.

On the left is a floral print scuba dress. What is a scuba dress? Well actually it is not the style it is the material. It is nothing specific, it is a general term for a smooth, slippery, stretchy type fabric and the name derives from the scuba diving suits of old.

This one is modelled by Kelly Brook, a super curvy British model who is becoming a bit of a celebrity after she dated actors Jason Statham and Billy Zane. In fact there is a range of dresses 'inspired' by her at Simply Be.

On the right is a far more casual tie dye beach dress, although you may want to be careful about having white on top.

On or Around the Knee

Okay so these dresses are unashamedly sexy. The one on the left is a short bodycon style and the fact that it is white means that it takes no prisoners. If you have the bod, and / or the nerve, you may just knoock 'em dead with this one.

Similarly with the Blue Banana dress on the right. It may have a longer hemline but it is undoubtedly a 'hot to trot' style. If you do not mind flashing those curves, you really could sizzle with these and yet there is not actually much cleavage on show.

I know, I know, this is meant to be a page about scoop neck dresses for big busts and this jumpsuit is clearly not that. But it is a scoopneck and it is a useful variation to think about.

As a contrast, I also show a far simpler maxi dress which might be worn for normal daily wear.

Did you like this page, did you learn something, maybe it reinforced you own views? I want to give as much (hopefully helpful) advice to the busty sisterhood as I can.

Please remember, we are all different. You may like to wear certain clothes and styles which I am suggesting that you should not. That is your absolute right. Do what makes you feel good. This site undeniably goes for the more modest approach because I feel all busty ladies already know how to be more racy if they wish.

It would really help me improve the site profile if you would click the Facebook 'Like' button. Pretty please! Susan

Want The News, Here's
The Scoop

Busty Celebrity in a scoop neck topNigella Lawson

You have to feel sorry for Nigella, she is an award winning author and a lady who genuinely knows a lot about the culinary arts but all some people go on about is her bust. Sound familiar?

Actually she generally is very modest. There is only a hint of cleavage going on here which is fairly typical of her but the media does like big boobs.

Other Busty Celebrities

Salma Hayek, varies the hem according to the occasion. At charity functions, business and school events she is the height of modesty.

In the photo above she was attending a function for a men's magazine. Nuff said.

Svetlana rocks the scoopSvetlana Medvedeva

If the President Of Russia's modest wife Svetlana Medvedeva can wear a scoop neck dress on a formal State occasion, you know it has distinct possibilities for all big busted ladies.

I have to admit that I do admire Svetlana. I am just sorry the picture is too dark to show her dress clearly.

Again, this is a style that has been recognised and utilised for centuries. As it says in the Bible, 'There is nothing new under the sun'. (Ecclesiastes 9.1)

Scoopnecks and broad shoulders

One word of warning. A scoop neck dress is not necessarily a good look if you are concerned about broad shoulders. The best way to explain it is as a red wine glass. The eye is drawn up and out which naturally takes the eye up to your shoulders.

I am not saying it is a style to be avoided at all costs; it is just an issue that you should consider and study when you put on a top or dress with this style neckline.

Oh Dear....

Perhaps too much?

You have to judge for yourself what neckline works and what does not. Obviously the occasion and your personal preferences dictate this.
